I just read your article on the iPhone/iPad and HTML vs. Flash. I think you are on the right track. What I would like to do is use the html gallery for mobile devices and the flash gallery for traditional computers/laptops.
Is there a way for imagevue to know what site to use based upon the accessing device? It would be cool if imagevue determined the gallery (html or flash) to use based upon the type of device. Thanks Alex _________________ Alex www.merelyafleshwound.com |

Actually Imagevue does exactly that. But we are going to make mobile and HTML versions much nicer in the future versions.

But we are going to make mobile and HTML versions much nicer in the future versions. A "more cared for" HTML version would be nice. For example, it would be nice to be able to customise the layout through a secondary set of "user CSS files", which would be loaded last. Then we could update Imagevue without going through all the hassle of re-customising. _________________ Using © Imagevue X2.6 Firefox 3.6.13 |

Hello,
Glad to have found this topic. Im getting back on my site and this is something I need to implement. Currently when I go to my site on the iPhone the screen is blank. How can I make it the iPhone sees the HTML gallery and everyone else sees the Flash Gallery? I currently have the Flash gallery embedded in HTML. This helped in footers and meta data. Not sure if that matters. Thanks for the advice. Troy |

Basically, with the the default Imagevue index.php, iPhone users are forwarded to the html gallery version. If you have a customized page with imagevue SWF embedded, there is no script in here to forward your iphone users to the html version. Do you have a link to your gallery?

After you upgrade your gallery to X2.6, I would perhaps recommend using the native imagevue index.php to contain the gallery. In your "customization", I basically only see that you have added a footer, and this can easily be done by editing the file iv-includes/templates/index.gallery.phtml.
This way, you will keep the original Imagevue script that also redirects iphone users to the html version. _________________ Karl / mjau-mjau ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() www.imagevuex.com www.mjau-mjau.com www.photogallerylinks.com |
