JavaScript error w/ Firefox and Safari

31 Dec 2008, 01:55

Hi,

My site works fine w/ IE 7 but when I try to open it up with FireFox or Safari, I get the following error. I checked the settings on both browsers and JavaScript is enabled.

Oops! - This page requires javascript -
Please enable javascript in your browser and reload page.

Any idea why this is happening?
My site's URL is www.iAmericana.com

Thanks for your help.
Thanks,

Sam

Hi Karl,

Do you mean, you're able to see my site without any errors using FF or Safari?

I do get the same error when I go to your demo gallery.
Thanks,

Sam

Hi imsam and fisrt i wish you a great year 2009 !!!

I just had a look to your gallery, and I'm using Firefox 3.0.5 and everything is fully working, gallery and music...

Maybe you should update your firefox and/or your OS related to javascript...

Yes, works fine ... apparently something with your browser. Javascript isn't enabled properly somehow ...

Search Engines seem to get the same error

05 Jan 2009, 15:00

Hi,

I've just noticed something interesting. When my website comes up in some of the search engines i.e. Yahoo and MSN, the text that describes the website i.e. the meta data, also shows the error message I was getting. That means when search engine crawlers hit my site, they must be getting the same error page.

This is very strange. Am I the only person who is experiencing this issue?
Thanks,

Sam

if that is the case then there must be some misplacements in your html, maybe post the code here or pm it, we can see what it could be

ok well, lets start form the beginnning, can you get your gallery to load in firefox let? if not make sure you have the latest version of the plugin

found here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7,

now we need to know if you are embeding the gallery in a html doc or running it on its own.

if your running it on its own then just write the erros your getting, if its embeded then post all the html code from the page its on,

cheers

Hi,

I've just installed the Flash plug in and that fixed the problem. However, how does that explain the search engine issue I mentioned earlier?

By the way, I'm using the site as is i.e. not embedding it into anything. Here's the URL:
www.iAmericana.com

Thanks for your help.
Thanks,

Sam

ok, it looks like google has made a mistake when its one through your site, ive had the gallery running through google and never had any issues like that, i would reccomend that you register for google webmaster tools ( this is very helpful for seeing what googles is looking at) and wait until google re indexes your site. i dont think you can force this, think you have to wait but i have heard of issues with google webmaster tools and firefox, not sure if its still the case but it would be safest to use IE,

I think thats all you can do for now, but either post here or pm me with any other info or developments i would be interested to find out the root cause of this.

Thank you

Actually, the site comes up under Google only with the About page.

The strange behavior is with Yahoo and MSN i.e. Live.com If you go to www.Yahoo.com and enter iAmericana in the search box, you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for your help.
Thanks,

Sam

maybe "mjau-mjau" will be able to offer some insight into this, i know google doesnt look much at the keywords in your meta tags, though i do know the screen which yahoo is reffering to, maybe this is an issue with x2? i doubt it is though try investigating how yahoo and msn crawl sites and what that actually look at
