HTML Gallery - redirecting to flash gallery by mistake

18 Aug 2012, 17:57

Hi,

ImageVueX: 2.8.1 and 2.8.2
URL: http://littlekat.com.ua

Preconditions:
- Main Gallery texts are written in two languages using [russian]xxx[/russian][english]yyyy[/english] schema.
- Added menu item with link: [russian]?language=english[/russian][english]?language=russian[/english]
- Adobe Flash is installed&enabled in browser.

Way to reproduce:
- open gallery by link http://littlekat.com.ua/?
- open main menu (by pressing green imagevue cross in top left corner)
- select last menu item (image of country flag)

now:
browser will be redirected to Flash gallery.
should:
browser will use coockies to save language setting and change page, but it should leave on HTML Gallery.

Way to reproduce correct behaviour:
- Adobe Flash is disabled or not installed in browser

It actually works with flash player disabled.

Russian:

English:

However I have noticed that you have some forced redirect to Flash gallery from html. So it is impossible to open HTML gallery if you have flash player installed. http://littlekat.com.ua/?/ - this should open the html gallery. Maybe it interferes.

Thanks for reply!

1. Forced redirection to flash gallery was added a day after this issue post for visitors.
(google indexed HTML gallery, and users (who use google search) started to view HTML gallery instead of Flash.)

2. Google checks web sites for cloaking. In Google WebMaster Tools I can open "Instant Previews", where google compares page served to googlebot and page, served to users. This pages are different, because googlebot tells it doesn't support flash and google's "Pre-render Desktop Search Instant Preview" renders flash.
So, I think it is important to be able to navigate whole HTML gallery(including all languages) with flash enabled.

Do you know how to tune this?

Many thanks!

Either you redirect them or not, if they don't have flash they stay on HTML gallery if they do - they see Flash gallery. And they can't browse the HTML gallery.

And we're going to actually implement this solution for the next update, so HTML gallery will be effectively inaccessible for the users with Flash installed.
