I use ftp to upload the new 20081029 update. I deleted the imagevue folder from the server then uploaded the new one. Everything works BUT the menu, for some reason before the site is done loading it shows the menu like so (see image) then it goes away when is done loading... Go here at test it out ...

I really enjoy your layout. I notice your thumbnails load quick. I host with GoDaddy any ideas? I know your images are black and white which that might help a bit on image size...

Karl your efforts are apreciated...yes I really like the close button in the older version...I just don't want the user to click another gallery if they can't find another way to go back to thumbnail view...sure I know if you click on the larger image it would go back but remember I was the one mess...
